2-Part “Parenting” Series:
Raising a son or daughter in today’s world means helping them discover more than who they are but TO WHOM THEY BELONG.
This inspiring series equips parents to teach their sons and daughters how to embrace the unique person God created them to be while rooting their identity firmly in Christ and the power of His Word. Each book offers encouragement, biblical wisdom, and practical guidance for navigating the questions, choices, relationships, and challenges which shape one's life.
With a message that balances affirmation with truth spoken in love, this series reminds every son or daughter that their journey of faith has meaning and purpose—and that walking with God provides a firm foundation of godly wisdom to build one's life upon.
INTRODUCTION EXCERPT:
There is something incredibly powerful about speaking truth into the heart and mind of a man. Regardless of age, every boy longs to hear affirmation from his parents. He desperately needs it so that he does not go searching for it in all the wrong places. The world is quick to compensate for a lack of spiritual formation in the home. Satan is always looking for weaknesses to exploit, and he often uses parents to do his bidding when we fail to teach our sons how to be men of godly character who respect and fear the Lord.
When we do not correct our sons or discipline their poor behavior, disobedience and rebellion take root in their hearts and drive them to make more bad decisions. Children often act out to gain the attention of their parents, and it is becoming obvious that young men today are spiritually malnourished. Truly, they need shepherding now more than ever. The world is relentless in its attack against men of all ages, tempting them to satisfy their guilty pleasures by whatever means necessary. It is a recipe for disaster because it teaches men to look out for their own best interest rather than the interest of others.
Men need guidance, and “The Anchor and The Sail” is designed to facilitate that process by speaking truth into their hearts through the lens of Scripture. Keep in mind, this book is a collection of letters from an imperfect parent attempting to speak godly wisdom and truth to his or her son. It is also a blueprint for what kinds of conversations should take place between parents and their sons. It is not an exhaustive list but merely a guide to help parents know what they should be teaching to develop their sons personal character. It serves a dual-purpose as well so that Christ is glorified in every parent-son relationship.
